Why this drill works

Disassociates the lower body shift from the arm release. If you cast (throw the clubhead) or hang back, you will hit the wall. Forces a 'hands-leading' delivery.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand a 5-iron length away from a wall behind you.

  2. 2

Place club at the top of the swing (simulated backswing).

  3. 3

Bump the hips laterally towards the target (shift weight).

  4. 4

Simultaneously 'pump' the arms down in front of you.

  5. 5

Ensure the clubhead stays inside and does not hit the wall.
