Why this drill works

Counteracts the tendency to drag the handle close to the body (narrowing) which causes stuck shots. Pushing the hands out creates width and tension in the lead side, syncing the arm speed with the body pivot.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Hold the club upside down.

  2. 2

Make a backswing and then extend the club OUT away from the body in transition.

  3. 3

Try to speed up the hands behind you while the lower body rotates forward.

  4. 4

Feel the 'whipping' effect and width created by pushing the hands away.
