Why this drill works

Eliminates the momentum-based 'rush' where the arms race the body. Pausing kills the arm momentum, forcing the player to re-initiate the downswing with the proper lower body sequence to generate power.

How to do it

  1. 1

Swing to the top of your backswing.

  2. 2

Come to a complete stop and PAUSE for 1 second.

  3. 3

Initiate the downswing from this dead stop.

  4. 4

Start with practice swings, then hit balls once comfortable.
