Why this drill works

Using the stick as an extension of the shaft provides tactile feedback on connection. If you roll your wrists or lift your arms early, the stick will leave your side instantly.

How to do it

  1. 1

Place an alignment stick alongside the grip of the club, extending up under your lead armpit/side.

  2. 2

Takeaway (First Foot): Move the club with your chest. The stick must stay in contact with your lead side.

  3. 3

Wrist Hinge: As hands pass the trail thigh, hinge the wrists so the stick slides down your lead thigh.

  4. 4

Check Position: At lead arm parallel, the stick should point slightly inside the target line.
