Driver Ball Too Far Back? Stop Slicing
Drill by The Swing Fix

Why this drill works
When the driver ball is too far back, the golfer is forced to catch it with a steeper, more handle-forward pattern that tends to leave the face open and path compromised. Moving the ball forward restores space for upward strike and cleaner face-to-path delivery.
How to do it
- 1
Set an alignment stick perpendicular to your target line and place the driver ball opposite the lead heel as a fixed checkpoint.
- 2
Make a few rehearsal setups without swinging, checking that the sternum stays behind the ball instead of directly on top of it.
- 3
Hit three-quarter drivers while preserving the same ball position and shoulder tilt each rep.
- 4
Watch for a higher launch and a start line that no longer jumps left from a trapped, steep strike.
- 5
If the ball creeps back in the stance, reset the checkpoint before the next rep.
